Love this one, Bar. I read that piece yesterday. I thought it was super, as I am a person learning what prayer is, and how much I actually do it without even being fully cognizant of my actions. Thanks for sending this out tonight. Love you you, my friend. xo
exactly. it's semantics, I guess. I'm just reluctant to use the word prayer myself because I don't do what other people might call prayer. Love you too. Thanks for all you're doing.
I guess it is semantics. I loved the way the author of that piece framed it. Sometimes it is about praying (a word I'm not yet comfortable with) to my inner wisdom, not a deity, per se, because I don't really believe in that energy. But the older I get and the more 12 Step I do, I'm seeing that I'm definitely not alone, and that there is a force or energy greater than my self. I don't know how to define it, and that's where I sometimes get stuck. How can something exist if I can't explain it logically? xoxo I wrote and published a piece about the election this evening too, instead of waiting til Wednesday. Praying hard for the result I'd like to see. Hope it works!
I read it, Nan, and it's great, as always. I get stuck with the language too. Would rather not have to think about it (the thing we can't describe) in terms of language, which is why I like the Jewish approach of NOT putting a word to it. I default to the word Love when I'm talking to myself about it...Truth is, I'm struggling to even write about it here...
I'm using the word "grace" at the moment. That's working for me. I'm glad you read it, and today is a good day. The Jewish tradition is a nice reminder, thank you. I was a member of a denomination called Jewish Renewal and they used Yah...but when spoken it sounded a lot like the wind. Loved that.
Thank you so much for this. We are on the same wavelength. And someone once said, WHEN WE SING, WE PRAY TWICE. That resonates right? Sending love and light and a prayer your way!
