It was the early days of the Book Fest when it was the Writers' Festival. I think the contest was sponsored by The New School?? Is that possible? I don't remember the winning entry. Maybe it was yours??? And no, the cutting board didn't last. It made me laugh, though.
I think you're right. The New School has sponsored Bookfest over the years. The cutting board would have made me laugh, too. A subliminal suggestion to edit closely, and cut the excessive? xo
What great gig stories. And you know I LOVE this song. It's deliciously sticky. Yes to creation, to making things and sharing them! We need that more than ever.
What’s interesting is to keep thinking about it all and see what you come up with in six words…. See Doris’s below, for instance. It’s like writing a poem where you refine and refine and refine until you have only six words. I still think about it to see what I’d write in any particular moment. I love your longer ones too! You are clearly forward looking.
Love this, Bar, and you! So nice to hear your signature soaring and buoyancy, your wit and humility and wisdom…. I miss hearing your music. Thank you ❤️
Dear Debra, this is so nice, thank you. This was a fun one to put together. Finally got back to enjoying myself, more like the earliest, quirkiest songs I wrote before I knew how to write a song. Each one is a learning experience, that’s for sure. Thank you thank you
I love this and while I listened- I sang along. I couldn’t help myself since you gave us the lyrics. Looking forward to whatever you make and share next.
Love this, love you, Bar. Whose contest was that? Do you still have the cutting board? xo

beautiful / you are very multi-talented
Ah shucks, Rohn, you're a darlin'. Thank you. I do what I love, that's the trick. You do too.

We do, and I love the word sticky, and it means a lot to me that you love this song. Thank you! ❤️
Everything I'm going to do is ahead of me.
Everything I'm going to do is within me.
Hmm... I would have lost the contest!

Yay! Singing along is the best compliment. Just love it. Thank you.
My six-word memoir, "I am still watering the grass."
I love your lyrics, but I especially love your forceful, driving piano score which underscores your message.
This made me laugh and smile. We’re plodding along, you and your grass, me and my piano. Perfect! La la la.
Thank you for the cheer! So nice!!!
glad it helped a bit.
How cool/fun!!So glad you share so well, Bar!! Your voice is soooo melodic and do EASY to listen to! Great lyrics!
Hi Caroline. Thank you! It was a fun one to write. I figured everyone could relate in one way or another...
