Last night I started reading a new collection of essays by Barry Lopez called Embrace Fearlessly the Burning World. In the introduction, Rebecca Solnit describes Lopez as having a priest-like quality, someone who “might bring a congregation to something transcendent or immanent.” I like people like that, but it was her next sentence that woke me up: “He (Lopez) was unafraid of taking moral positions…and he wasted no time on that chimera of neutrality that has bedeviled so many white American writers”.
I'd vote for you without question! It's a good time to clarify our values and beliefs, what we stand for...some, I guess, the bravest among us, might say, "what I'm willing to die for." I'd say I'd die for my kids, my grandkids. But what really matters to me? This I'll surely contemplate sooner after your welcome nudge (though you've done most of the work for me!
You took ALL of the words right out of my mouth. On every point- yes. Every single point. What a daunting challenge to educate some to just be kind, and reasonable, and caring, and honest. I fear that “we” are doomed to repeat the same mistakes over and over. I hate that I think that. I won’t give up.
A little bit of synchronicity - after putting myself out there yesterday, asking people to subscribe to my blog, I was standing still for a moment this morning, thinking - I will just need to continue to write what is kind and true in the best way I can, and know that not everything I say will please every person every time. And then I immediately went and read this - which felt like an affirmation of that thought. Put your self out there, say the truth that's important. Thanks for being a trail blazer for me _/\_ <3
I join the chorus of voters who would support you! Of course running for anything has become a nightmare but public service in any way is important for all of us to consider. What do we do with our convictions? What can we offer in our own communities? That's the next question! Thanks for putting out this clarity.

Well done

And then, I’ll just be dust in the wind.
Right on, sister.
You have my vote. Do you need a campaign manager? I'm affordable.
