We were more likely playing Kick the can, but the angst and the improv and the coming together and moving apart of all the kids in our neighborhood resonates with me big time. It was a different era, wasn’t it?
PS started your book last night. Already enjoying it. Thank you.
So glad to hear about your one on ones with your Dad. That is a very special gift.
Jane Siberry is one of my favorites too! I took advantage to see her live every time I could. I really miss those shows! She is responsible for me needing to sing "Beluga, Beluga" whenever a beluga comes up. You'd be surprised how often they do!
I’m glad you like Jane too. I think her quirkiness and her production had a giant impact on me early on. It was like she gave me permission to write whatever I wanted to. Wish I’d had a band like hers! Amazing talents all around her bringing her vision to life. Just brilliant.
First, your 96-year-old father was painting his porch in the atrocious heat and humidity of Philadelphia? i'm super impressed. AND, I love this song and just about everything Jane Siberry has ever created. I've adored her for the last 40 years. And that seems impossible. She's the bomb. xo
Agree. I don’t know her later stuff as well but the early albums are memorized. She was a huge inspiration for me but I’m not sure I understood that until recently. It’s the forms and the quirkiness that I love but also the confidence she has to write whatever she wants to write. Hard for women our age to do, especially in the music business.
As for my dad, yep, he’s still doing the chores he wants to do and the heat doesn’t phase him. He reads a ton, stays up late, writes at his desk, life goes on for him day to day and one day at a time. His ancestors have all lived long lives. All of his siblings are still alive too. If I have his genes I could be around for a while…no tellin’
WOW to your dad and his sibs. Quality of life is so important. JANE! Hey were you still in the nabe when she came to the Bearsville Theater in 2017? It was a women's event with kids from the Day School and local women musicians. I met her and we were going to work together on a new website for her, and then she kind of disappeared. I think she might do that a lot. I have a little video I took I could share with you, if you like. It was the best night. I was fangirling big time. xo
I wasn’t but I wish I had been! Yes to the video. Let me know if you need my email. Thank you! Sorry the website didn’t work out but at least you two got to meet. Sweet!
a lovely share / i'm from michigan so i can relate to the winter play until the sun goes down or until you get called for dinner

Mmm that’s stunning delicious sounds that warm me.
Oh good! Glad to hear it.
That’s a beautiful song. One of a kind.
For sure. I love every bit of it. So much going on, and so many levels. Love the groove and the tracks. I could go on. She’s brilliant.
