I could have printed out your score, but sitting with the computer on my lap, I sat at the piano to play. Your score perfectly captures my memory of Lorelei. I'm happy that you plan to transcribe some of your other songs. I love the thought that your scores will outlive you, and every time someone sits at the piano to play songs from your compilation, they will hear you... feel you sitting next to them.

The next chapter in your composing and writing unfolds! Good for you and for all your Friends of Bar. As far as end of life coming closer, with your parents' longevity you will be writing chapters into your 90's. Looking forward to coming to hear you do a retrospective on the BA Steinway you always wanted. I will be 110 by then and with my dodgy hearing and sight will likely need a seat down front! ❤️
As for growing old and more chapters for me: I think I hope so, Bill! I mean, yes! I hope so. For now, though, this notation thing is very satisfying. I worked on a lead sheet for a song called ”You” this morning (just melody, lyrics, and chord progression meant for improvisation) and learned a lot doing it. What’s most interesting is figuring out the musical structure of my songs. There are always quirks: meter changes, short bars, notes outside the key, all that. I don’t think songwriters plan these things, they just feel right and so you keep them. At least that’s true for me. See you at the Steinway. Up front, one of these days…thank you.
