Oh my gosh, Bar!!! Your jobs list blew me away!! You HAVE had some random ones, and the list must really make you sit back and ponder!! I can’t come close to the variety!! Great piece of writing and baring your history. The picture of you in heels and halter top at the car dealership ….that was a head spinner, I would bet. “No, you’ll be washing cars!” Thanks again for the entertainment. And you have a fine voice, too…..

I'm smiling because I didn't even tell you about delivering singing telegrams! That was my first job after college, much to my parents' chagrin. Imagine sending your daughter off to an expensive private college and have her come home and tell you she's going to sing telegrams for a living. Oy! Didn't last long...a few months at best.

Lists of lists. You’ve gone beyond the call of duty. 😂🫣. Love the odd jobs. I delivered wine though I wasn’t allowed to drink it (I was 18). I had a 2 day try at a pharmacy (they made the mistake of putting this non-smoker at the smokers’s cash register - filter, non filter, menthol, slim, hard pack, soft pack - where I was in over my head). I quit. My favorite was working at the research counter at Temple University library - which vastly improved my grades. None of these made it into my LinkedIn profile… 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

I'm trying to imagine you selling cigarettes. It's hard to imagine a cigarette even! I just rarely see them any more. As for the research counter, I've often wondered if I'd like being a research librarian, but I'd be lousy at it. I'd get restless.

I was always busy at the library. Never time to be bored helping other students at Temple University find what they needed to complete their papers (often at the last minute). I had the Sunday afternoon to evening shift so you can imagine the panic for many. I also helped with the microfiche and other “high” tech equipment of the day (we’re talking the 1970’s here) and the skills helped me with my internship at KYW-TV on evening magazine where I often had to do research for their segments (like how many shark attacks were there at the Jersey shore). It was actually a very exciting and rewarding job at Temple and paid dividends later in life.

I too have had dozens of jobs. I feel sorry for those who have always marched along their career path and never taken a scenic by-way. They've made more money no doubt, but I'm thinking that their careers were lacking in adventure. I would have loved to be a companion on your hair-styling day.
