Dear Bar, This has always been one of my favorites. And I can still see those two little amazing eyes as Forrest would gaze out as you carried him in I think was green baby back pack. Soooo beautiful --your voice, the words and the feelings. Thank you for sharing your remembrance, current experience taking your time, and your gifts for us to receive and cherish. So precious. Love lives forever.....
I had already loved you, your voice, rejoiced when you became pregnant, loved meeting you in the health food store with Forrest nestled to your breast, but at the time when Forrest departed you became---- forever----one of my SHEroes because of your immense courage, authenticity as you shared your grief, so genuinely open and painful, with us as we joined you, we -- your community -- on the day his body returned to Mother Earth. You changed my Life by being you. I made a choice and a prayer to be as real as you when the seasons of grief showed up in my life. A few years ago I song came to me that expresses my experience and faith that love never dies and that the love we have for "non-others" lives on within it. Let's see if I can copy it here. Aloha
Dear Esther, What a gift this is! Lines up so well with what I felt on Monday. Thank you, and thank you for the memory and for sharing it with me. It reminds me of a Colony concert late in Forrest's life when he was restless, needed me while I was singing and all I could do was keep singing while Peter brought him to me on stage. it was incredibly powerful and necessary for me to be a mother so publicly. It was such a rich time for our community. So gigantic. Still moves me deeply to think about it. And I still feel the power of it every day. Thank you thank you. It's a beautiful song.
Bar, I remember you singing that song at the Westcliffe Writers Conference. I fell in love with it then and I'm still in love with it today. Oh, how you must miss Forest and his sweet, little eyes...especially when you see the joy on the grandkids' faces. So moving and heartwarming. Thank you for sharing. Much love always, Jackie
Thank you, Jackie. It’s especially wonderful to be with Brent’s 5 grandchildren who are here because 4 of them are late teenagers and the fifth is two and absolutely delightful. I spent a lot of time with him this afternoon and it did me a world of good. Thank you thank you. Love from us. B&B
WOW! A beautiful blog entry this go around...I, too, have had those rush of tears that just overwhelm you, and all you can say is "Oh Mom...I miss you so much..." They are beautiful moments - cherish them...
And your song to Forrest - I remember this one from years ago and I continue to LOVE it!! And what. a beautiful memory of Forrest. xo
Dear Chrisy, thank you. It was a powerful morning, good for me for all kinds of reasons. Thank you for reading and listening, and for taking the time to write. Love from here.
Where would I begin? Your photographs, your music, your lyrics, and your heartfelt memories of your mother and Forrest.... all brought together on the surf and in the wind. Beautiful... as are you.
So beautiful. In the chakra system, air (wind) is the element associated with the heart center - the energy that allows us to reach out, to embrace, hug in … relate to each other, love.
One of MY favorite things was and is singing that song with you. It’s the song I play most often (pretty much the only one I play regularly) where I can hear you coming in with me on that second verse. For me, those words tell a whole giant story rooted in Woodstock. Love it every time.
Dear Rohn, I agree. The more we write the good stuff, the better it is for all of us. Thank YOU for being the final push I needed to get started. And I'm so glad you've met Forrest. He was an inspiration; still is.
Love this post, Bar, as well as the gorgeous photos and the song-one of my favorites of yours. It all resonates with me deeply. Sending love and light your way.🙏❤️
I love this memory of Forrest. And I love that song. xo
Thank you, Nan😑
oh, Bar.
Dear Abby.
Ahh that song... 🙏🏽.. love, strength and gentleness all squished up, whispering deep into mind and heart. Thank you 🧡
Thank you, Rosie. It’s an old song that I will always love to sing. Thank you.
Bar, I can only relate to "ah, Momma," but your song--and that sunset photo--are glorious. Just lovely.
That ah Momma meant a whole lot, means a whole lot. Every mother emotion was wrapped up in it. thank you for listening. ❤️

Aloha is a term used as a greeting, a goodbye and most importantly is the Hawaiian word for love.

My dear friend, thank you. It’s been an important few days as you know. Thank you for coming along in my thoughts.

You’ve captured it perfectly 💞
Thank you, Sarah. I must have known that once but I’d forgotten. It’s good to know it again. Love from here.
Echoing “Wow”. And I felt “yes…yes…yes” while reading your beautiful weaving of words. Thank you for this.
And World on Fire isn’t just one of my favorite songs you’ve written, it’s one of my favorite songs period.

Singing it with you was also one of my favorite things…It would give me chills (the transcendent kind). So thank you for that, too.
This is a beauty. And that’s one of my fave BarScott tunes.
